Here are two new paintings. The one with the horses was completed just a few days ago - I entitled it "On Fire." Actually I didn't get the background right - it was too dark. Sometimes in that case I just wash off paint to lighten it up - yeah, wash it in the bathtub, as I have really high quality paper - but I just didn't want to lose my intense colors. So I added some gold to the horses to make them stand out. (A paragraph from "How an Artist Thinks" - the blog in my head.)
The painting of the longhorns was done before the one with the horses. Four people who have seen it said it reminded them of the scene from Lonesome Dove when the herd was caught in a thunderstorm and the lightning rolled off their horns. That makes me pretty proud - that's what I was thinking of when I painted the painting.
